January 2019

For the first time this year the LSCP has recognised the outstanding contribution to safeguarding of six practitioners and managers. Four awards were presented at the LSCP board meeting on 16th January, with the remaining two to be made at a later date.

It was my pleasure and honour to present the awards and I want to start here by saying a big thank you on behalf of the safeguarding partnership to all those recognised. Your commitment and professionalism is truly inspiring and you very much represent the best of Leeds. The commendation also reflects very positively indeed on the teams you work with and the agencies you represent.

Preparation is taking place for the safeguarding awards to become an annual event, with awards this year going to going to safeguarding professionals from Health, West Yorkshire Police and Children and Family Services. Next year the focus will be on professionals from non-statutory partners including Education, the National Probation Service, Wetherby YOI and all of the voluntary sector.

So if you would like to nominate a professional or manager who you know has made an outstanding contribution to safeguarding in the non-statutory sector, please let me know via with a deadline of 1st November 2019.
