Policy and Procedures

Purpose

 

  1.  To co-ordinate the development of new local policies, procedures and guidance for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in Leeds. In addition the group analyses the implications of national multi-agency policies, procedures, guidance or research findings in terms of the need to develop any additional local policy, procedures or guidance.
  2. The group also contributes to the development and updating of the West Yorkshire Safeguarding Procedures through the West Yorkshire Consortium.

 

Terms of Reference

1. To contribute and respond to the LSCP Annual Review and Business Plan in relation to the development of local and national policies, procedures and protocols.

2. To receive, review, agree, implement and where appropriate develop policies and procedures for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in Leeds.

3. Develop local protocols on key issues of concern, as agreed/ directed by the LSCP or LSCP Executive.

4. Ensure there is agreement and understanding across agencies about operational practice in relation to each new policy, procedure, guidance or research findings and work with them to facilitate the translation into practice.

5. Contribute to the development and updating of the West Yorkshire Safeguarding Procedures through the West Yorkshire Consortium

6. Identify new national multi-agency policies, procedures, guidance and research findings

  • Ensure partner agencies are aware of, respond to and incorporate in practice.
  • Analyse the implications in terms of the need to develop any additional local policy, procedures or guidance.
  • Identify any new national multi-agency policies, procedures, guidance or research findings relating to the broader safeguarding agenda to the relevant partnership boards, particularly the Children’s Trust Board.

7. Agree actions to resolve issues identified by new policies, procedures, guidance or research findings.

8. Monitor (and revise as required, in line with national guidance) the processes, protocols and procedures in relation to Serious Case Reviews

Frequency of Meetings

The Policies and Procedures sub-group will meet bi-monthly.

The Policies and Procedures sub-group will be accountable to the Chair of the LSCP and the LSCP Board.
