10 Practice Principles

Safeguarding is a field where childhood and adulthood is defined by age (Working Together 2018 defines a child as anyone who has not yet reached their 18th birthday) with services for children and adults operating broadly separately.  The transition from children’s to adult’s services is a time when young people may need support.

The Student LSCP (the LSCP's youth advisory group) were asked to develop some key principles that practitioners should take into account when working with young people aged 16 and over.

They identified 10 principles that they thought were important for practitioners to bear in mind when working with young people going through a transition in their lives.  Please see our website to learn more about the project and to download your copy of the 10 Principles.
