CDOP Annual Report

The Child Death Review process is a statutory function set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 and clarifies the process on how the deaths of all children and young people should be reviewed.

The deaths of all children under the age of 18 must be reviewed by a Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) on behalf of the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCP)  who will then produce an annual report which includes recommendations based on its findings.

This year’s CDOP Annual Report is an overview of all the deaths reviewed by the CDOP since 2008 and identifies a number of factors that can negatively impact on the health and wellbeing of babies, children and young people. It is important that practitioners working with families read the report to understand how they can contribute to promoting key health and safety messages to families.
