Concerned about a child

 

Duty and Advice are anticipating an unprecedented number of enquiries/ referrals in September 2020 as a result of Covid- 19.   Before contacting duty and advice you should consider if you have a serious safeguarding concern.

Where there is no risk of significant harm

If the child or young person is not at risk of being significantly harmed, an Early Help response may be more appropriate. You can get advice and support from the Early Help Hub in your area who will be able to think with you about the best agency to respond:

Where there are concerns of significant harm

If you suspect that a child or young person is being, or is at risk of being significantly harmed as a result of abuse or neglect, you must report this immediately by contacting:

  • During office hours (9:00am-5:00pm)
  • The Duty and Advice Team 0113 376 0336 (option 3)
  • Out of office hours (evenings, weekends and bank holidays)
  • The Children’s Emergency Duty Team (EDT) on 0113 5350600
  • If you believe a child is in immediate danger and at risk of harm call the police on 999
