This one hour session offers a very brief introduction to the topic of Stress in Infants implications for development and outcomes.

This briefing aims to consider the impact of stress on the infant’s developing brain and the importance of positive early caregiving relationships for optimal social and emotional development. 

The one-hour session will cover:

  • To consider early brain development in the context of stress and trauma in pregnancy and early caregiving experiences
  • To consider the implications  of the early experience on infant presentations at birth and beyond – including family contact
  • To make links to the long term implications for infants who experience significant stress
