Introduction to Domestic Violence & Abuse - including the impact on the child

Overview

This online multi-agency course is for anyone working with adults (with or without children), children, young people and families who may be in a position to recognise and respond to domestic abuse. This course aims to provide an introduction or refresher to your understanding of the impact of domestic violence and abuse on individuals, in families and on children and to increase your skills in working with those groups including with ones who are causing the harm.
 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Recognise indicators of domestic abuse in adults and children
  • Have safe conversations with or about individuals or families affected by domestic violence and abuse
  • Know when to complete a DASH risk assessment
  • Understand and be able to make referrals into the MARAC process

 

Pre-Requisites

Participants must have completed Introduction to Working Together to Safeguard Children and Young People  (or their in-house equivalent) before they can access this training.

Charging

The Introduction to DVA training is free to LSCP partner agencies who contribute to the training pool and Third Sector / not-for profit agencies who have an annual turnover of less than £250k. It is also free to agencies who are working towards or have been awarded the DVA Quality Mark.

The charge for all those who do not fit into the aforementioned categories and all private organisations will be £35.

All delegates from any agency will be charged £50 for non-attendance at the live session. We will therefore require billing details from all delegates registering for the course.

This session will be delivered on Zoom from 09:30 - 13:00 and participants will need to attend the full session in a private space with no distractions.

This is an interactive session and in order for participants to fully engage with the session we ask that the training is accessed via a laptop or PC only (no mobile phones or tablets) and that delegates’ videos and microphones are switched on throughout the session. Only one delegate per device and if accessing in the same room as a colleague please ensure headsets are used. Further information is available in the ‘LSCP Live Online Training Delegates Guide’.
