Safeguarding Children & Young People Restoratively when Family Engagement is Difficult

A one day, multi-agency course for staff and volunteers working with parents / carers who can be difficult to engage with. (Formerly known as Working with Hard to Engage Parent and Carers.)

Candidates should have attended the Introduction to Working Together or their own in-house introduction training.


Learning Outcomes:


By the end of the course participants should be able to:

• explain the causes of difficult engagement with families
• describe the barriers families may face when trying to engage with services and what influences this
• consider restorative approaches to increase and improve engagement
• recognise different behaviours that decrease engagement from families, workers and services
• gain strategies for encouraging and increasing engagement with families
• recognise the link with safeguarding and child protection - a recurring theme within Serious Case Reviews

The LSCP training is free to LSCP partner agencies who contribute to the training pool and Third sector / not-for profit agencies who have an annual turnover of less than £250k. There will be a charge for all Private organisations. All delegates will be charged £50 for non-attendance.
