LSCP's annual report 2025

Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 stipulates the requirements and publication of an annual report. These reports are crucial for ensuring transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in safeguarding practices.

The LSCP Annual Report covers the period 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, and is produced on behalf of the partnership by the Delegated Safeguarding Partners in Leeds.

The report begins by thanking all front-line practitioners and managers who work tirelessly to improve outcomes for children across Leeds. It is the commitment, dedication, and care that practitioners give to children and families on a daily basis, that keeps children safe.

Since writing the annual report, Leeds has once again received an outstanding OfSTED judgement which further re-enforces the strength of our partnerships and the shared commitment across all agencies to improve outcomes for children across Leeds

Key messages from the report include:

  • full implementation of the revised Government guidance, Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023), in good time and ahead of the required deadline
  • Undertaken a self-assessment utilising a National Tool to evaluate the current position of the partnership, the impact of the work undertaken and identifying areas for further development
  • Developed further opportunities for collaborative work with the Leeds Safeguarding Adults Board and the Safer Leeds Executive, including initiating more regular strategic planning across the three boards to commence in 2025-26
  • Agreed the local action plan in response to the National Panel publication “I wanted them all to notice” concerning the need for all partnerships in the country to review and take steps where necessary to improve responses to concerns about intra-familial child sexual abuse
  • the commitment to continually improving safeguarding practice in the city with continued work on the LSCP priorities:
o  Domestic Abuse- children as victims.
    o  Safeguarding through Family Help
o  Safeguarding Teenagers- serious youth violence and exploitation
  • Implementation of the National Reforms
  • The significant work undertaken by the LSCP through its subgroup structure
