CSE hasn't gone away

Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) remains a significant safeguarding concern that continues to affect children and young people across communities. While awareness, policy, and practice have improved over the past decade, the nature of exploitation has evolved rather than disappeared. Offenders are increasingly using online spaces, social media, and peer-to-peer networks to target, groom, and exploit vulnerable children, often making detection more complex.

This briefing is designed for multi-agency professionals working across social care, education, health, policing, and the voluntary sector. It will provide an up-to-date picture of CSE today, exploring current trends, risk indicators, and emerging threats. The session will emphasise the continued need for strong partnership working, effective information sharing, and professional curiosity to identify and disrupt exploitation at the earliest opportunity.

The session will outline:

  • Why/how is the session relevant to practice?
  • What will practitioners take from the session and how will it impact on their daily work?
  • How will it help them to keep children safe?)
