Children's wellbeing and schools bill

This session will outline the approach education teams in Leeds are taking to support implementation of the measures included in the Children’s Wellbeing and School’s Bill, and how that may impact on all practitioners, as they strive to keep children safe in their daily work. With the introduction of this Bill in 2024, the role of education in multi-agency safeguarding arrangements has been brought into focus. The Bill recognises the vital role schools play, in collaboration with partners across the children’s workforce, in protecting children from abuse, neglect and exploitation.

The session will:

  • Review progress towards the introduction of  the Bill, and consider its implications for practice
  • Introduce the Leeds Learning Access Service and update on the development of this provision

This training is being offered in response to legislative developments, to ensure practitioners are alert to changes which impact their practice.

The session is suitable for all practitioners working with children, young people and their families.
