Think Family Work Family

“Think Family Work Family”, means that workers that are in contact with anyone in your family will be getting to know all of you so they can make sure everyone has the support (help) they need.  This is known as working ‘holistically’.   We do this because we know that problems that you might be having can have an effect on your family – and problems other family members might have can have an effect upon you.

Workers will always ask for your thoughts, and include you and your family members in any plans that are being made.  We call this ‘working restoratively’.

What will happen if a family member has a worker?

The worker will want to get to know you and will probably ask you questions about home, your friends, school and any workers you might have. This doesn’t mean they’re being nosy, it means they want to make sure that you’re getting the right support so you can enjoy growing up, and look forward to a bright future.

What if I have a worker?

If you have a worker, they will spend some time talking to your other family members to find out if they need any support, and if they have any workers.  If your family members have their own workers they will then start to talk to each other to make sure everyone is getting the support they need.  We call this a ‘Team Around the Family (TAF)’.

What if a family member has a worker but they don’t talk to me?

If you need some support, don’t be afraid to ask them.  Whether it’s your worker, or a family members’ worker- talk to them about any problems you’re having, or any support you think you might need.

What if no one has a worker but I still want some help?

Talk to an adult you trust. This could be people like family members, neighbours, or teachers.  If you’re scared or worried and don’t feel like you have anyone to talk to, call Childline on: 0800 1111, they’re there to listen and support you with anything you’d like to talk about.
